TOP TEN POINTS TO KNOW THE PROPER WAY TO USE YOUR TONGUE

You can tell a wise Christian by the kind of words that come out of his mouth. Words are not to be as swords and spears but as medicine. Your words should bind up the broken hearted and give hope to the hopeless. Anytime you speak right, your words deliver healing to your listeners. While speaking, purposely select words that are mild, soothing encouraging and interesting.

POINT 1: DON’T SPEAK EVIL PEOPLE IN AUTHORITY
Whether it be your pastor, leader or the ruler of your people, no matter what they do or what you hear about them-don’t carry it about. Pray for them.

POINT 2: DON’T BACKBITE YOUR FELLOW BELIEVER
‘’Did you like what he did?’’ ‘’I didn’t’’. The next time you make such a comment to anyone but Brother David himself, you are backbiting brother David (Jer. 9:4; Rom, 1:28-30).

POINT 3: DON’T BOAST

Are you a fine orator? Remember King Herod. The people applauded him but worms ate him alive (Acts 12:21-23). Always point others to Jesus not to yourself.

POINT 4. DON’T COMMENT ON ALL YOU SEE:

Have you become an unpaid paper vendor? You sight a newspaper headline in Abuja and you start to run commentaries on its implications to Ghana without reading the content of the article.

POINT 5. DON’T FORESWEAR YOURSELF:

Be it in the court of law, there is a provision for you to merely affirm your words. Always ‘’let your nay be nay and your yea be yea………’’(Matt. 5:37; James. 5:12).

POINT  6. DON’T CONFESS NEGATIVE:

Someone asked about your children’s welfare. You replied, ‘’fine, except that they eat too much these days, they are getting more stubborn and don’t even do well at school,’’ be positive, act to correct them in love. As you back these with prayers things will soon change for the better.

POINT 7. DON’T BE A TALKATIVE:
Don’t ‘’parrot’’ for the sake of being called a good social mixer. ‘A fool is full of words’’

POINT 8. DON’T CURSE:
‘’Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? How do you bless god but curse human beings with the same tongue? Be wise Tame your tongue to bless always.

POINT 9. DON’T MURMUR AND DON’T COMPLAIN:
Miriam did it and became a leper. Korah, Dathan and Abiram did households Build-up with your tongue (Prov. 14:1).

POINT 10. DON’T THINK OF EVIL:
Don’t think of evil to others who have successfully make it in life because you have not yet achieve what you want to achieve in life. There is time for everything, may be your time to be successful might be tomorrow. So always be faithful and positive.

Question:
·        How can your words become healing medicine?
·        What kind of words should you avoid?
