Coronavirus: Nigerian who returned from France in isolation – Lagos

Dayo Ojerinde
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, has said a Nigerian who returned from France three days ago is in isolation at the Infectious Disease Centre, Yaba.
Abayomi at a briefing on Thursday said the patient was referred to the Infectious Disease Hospital by a private hospital in Lagos, The PUNCH reports.
The Commissioner said the result of the patient would be released as soon as he gets it.
“He is a Nigerian who went to France, spent seven days in France, returned to Lagos three days ago and presented with headache and some respiratory symptoms. This is because he has been in a country where there is an active person-to-person transmission, it could be common cold and there is a possibility that it could be coronavirus.
“He has been put in isolation, the test is being run right now, I am expecting the result,” Abayomi said.

Mogadishu hotel suicide bombers were Dutch - Somalia

Mogadishu - Twin suicide bombings at a Mogadishu hotel popular with ministers and officials were carried out by Dutch nationals, Somali intelligence sources said on Saturday, the day after 25 people were killed.

Somali intelligence believe both suicide bombers - a man and a woman - were Dutch-Somali citizens who infiltrated the Central Hotel close to the presidential palace ahead of the attack.

Sources within the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said the man, identified as Ismail Muse, exploded a bomb in a car parked at the hotel while the woman, Lula Ahmed Dahir, detonated her explosive vest inside the hotel's prayer room.

The woman "worked part time in the hotel for up to four months," according to an intelligence report seen by AFP.

"Her relationship to the male attacker... is not yet known but thought to be very close, if not husband," said the report.

Lagos sees second Ebola case, doctor who treated victim: health minister

LAGOS, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Lagos recorded its second case of Ebola on Monday, in a doctor who treated U.S. victim Patrick Sawyer, Nigeria's health minister said.
Sawyer died in Lagos last month after arriving there by plane from Liberia.

Ebola has killed 826 people in West Africa since the outbreak began in February, mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

"As of today, one of the doctors that treated the late Mr Sawyer has tested positive for the Ebola virus," Onyebuchi Chukwu told a news conference. Of 70 people who were under surveillance, eight had been "quarantined at an isolation ward provided by the Lagos state government," he added.

Ebola is one of the world's deadliest diseases, with a mortality rate of up to 90 percent of cases. The disease starts with headaches and fever, and final-stage symptoms include external and internal bleeding, vomiting and diarrhea. There is no effective treatment and no vaccine to protect against it.

The latest outbreak began in the forests of remote eastern Guinea in February. Its arrival of one of the world's deadliest diseases in Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy and its most populous country, with 170 million people, has caused panic.

Lagos is Africa's biggest city, with 21 million people, and one of the world's most crowded, with poor healthcare infrastructure.

Gen Buhari releases statement saying the bomb blast he got saved from, calling it an assasinating attempt

General Buhari has released a statement on his convoy in Kaduna, describing it as a clear assassination attempt. Find the statement he signed himself below.

"I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack today along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo – Kaduna about 2:30pm on my way to Daura.

The unfortunate event, clearly an assassination attempt, came from a fast moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle. We reached the market area of Kawo where he took advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly denoted the bomb which destroyed all the three cars in our convoy. Unfortunately, when I came out of my vehicle I saw many dead bodies littered around. They were innocent people going about their daily business who became victims of mass murder.

Thank God for His mercy, I came out unhurt but with three of my security staff sustaining minor injuries – they have been treated in hospital and discharged.

Latest news coming out of Adamawa State, northern Nigeria, indicate that embattled Governor Murtala Nyako has been sacked. According to Premium Times, the governor was removed by the state House of Assembly some moments ago. The committee submitted its report to the House on Monday, 14 July, 2014. Earlier on Tuesday, 15 July, 2015, the state’s Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari, was reported to have resigned from office to avoid being impeached. * Governor Nyako of Adamawa state Mr. Ngilari’s resignation letter was read at plenary by the speaker of the Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, after which the lawmakers approved it. A source informed that there is high security presence on the road leading to the Assembly and inside the complex.

Post-s*x euphoria quickly turned into a painful trip to A&E when an American woman had an climax that lasted for over THREE HOURS. Doctors initially thought that Liz was going into labour when she arrived at the emergency room in Seattle – only to discover that she was short of breath due to a seemingly never-ending climax. Liz and her partner Eric discuss the ordeal – which is accompanied by a dramatic reconstruction – as part of TLC’s new series s*x Sent me to the ER. She said: “I started hopping up and down to see if that would do anything, but there was nothing we could come up with that would stop me from orgasming.” The couple also reportedly attempted to subdue the intensity of the climax with some wine – before deciding after two hours that it was time to go to the emergency room. It took another hour of painful pleasure before the climax eventually died down, with Liz now being closely monitored by several bemused doctors. Even Eric found himself becoming less smug as the minutes went on.
